This book is the fruit of much grace from God, “who works all things according to the counsel of his will” (Ephesians 1:11, ESV). One of the many evidences of His grace in the writing of this book has been the many people He has led to invest countless hours into every aspect of it. My thanks to them is both incomplete and inadequate, compared to all they have done to make this book possible.

First, I must thank the whole team at Distant Shores Media. I am especially grateful to Bruce Erickson for all the time he has spent discussing copyright law, missiology, and the intersection of the two. His help in writing this book has been immense, such that much of the coherency and usefulness of this book is due to his involvement in it. I also need to thank my brother, Ben Jore, whose theological insights have been most helpful, and whose skill in organization and editing has rescued readers of this book from what would otherwise have been a very painful experience.

My deepest gratitude goes to our legal team at the IPR law firm of Coats and Bennett for their help in understanding copyright law and charting a course through its sometimes-murky waters. A book like this could only be undertaken with the help of a top-notch legal team that is passionate about the Kingdom. It is a great blessing to have such a capable and visionary team working with us.

I am indebted to the entire network of Distant Shores Media supporters and volunteers. God continues to use your support and encouragement to open many doors for the Word (Colossians 4:3). Your generosity has made possible both the writing of this book and the ability to release it under an open license for free redistribution. Thank you for being willing to “endure anything rather than create an obstacle for the Gospel” (1 Corinthians 9:12).  My thanks also to Jerrell Hein, Phil Haugen, Kurt Hein, Wade Mobley, Seth Stoll, Keith Williams, Timothy Warner, and the many others who have read through drafts of this book and provided very helpful feedback.

Finally, my love and gratitude to my dear wife, Angie, who has sacrificed much for the writing of this book.
